The FS1616-D2-F is a 1/4” three way duplex fuel selector with positions LEFT - RIGHT - OFF and a 90 degree action between them. There is also a safety feature where the red button on the lever has to be raised in order to switch off the fuel which prevents the fuel from being switched off accidently.
This valve allows for two lines to be switched simultaneously which means that the return fuel from the engines fuel injector/manifold block can be returned to the same tank from which it was drawn.
When the valve is in the ON condition, there is an easy action between the LEFT and RIGHT position. Inside the valve are highly polished ball valves packed with precision PTFE seals. This not only provides a smooth action but also gives a perfect seal.
To switch the valve to OFF the red safety button on top of the lever must be raised. This therefore helps to prevent the pilot inadvertently switching the fuel OFF.
Returning the fuel to the same tank from which it was drawn has great benefit as it eliminates any potential over filling issues. For example, if the fuel is returned to a single tank, and it happened to be feeding from the other tank (perhaps the pilot is unaware of the fuel system layout) and that tank is full, the fuel will begin dumping overboard. This could be an issue on long distance flights as it could cause a fuel outage.
On the FS1616 either the upper of the lower section can be used as the feed or return. All fittings are 1/8 NPT female. During ordering the fascia plates' engraving can be customised.
